Investigation report. TLP crash Hellenic F-16. (26 Jan 2015)

As we go about enjoying our favourite hobby, photographing aircraft, at various locations. We tend to forget that things can go horribly wrong in a split second. It all looks so natural and normal after a while. Last week i received the investigation report concerning the crash of a Hellenic F-16 during the TLP exercise, in  January 2015. A popular exercise which is visited by many spotters. The Safety Investigation Board concluded that it was a pilot error. Accident cause was a wrong yaw trim setting during take-off, resulting in the jet veering hard right after getting airborne. Trim was set to max right of 12 degrees. The pilot tried to correct this but due to the wrong trim setting nothing helped. Sadly resulting in the dead of many people and damage to a lot of infrastructure and airframes.
